Experience Design Researcher - CreditWise (Manager)

We’re the CreditWise Design team. CreditWise is Capital One’s free credit monitoring tool. We focus on empowering our users to understand, improve, and protect their credit health, financial health, and identity, while providing them with access to the right features and products at the right time so they may achieve their financial goals. Our team collaborates with talented partners from product, tech, ops, analytics, marketing, and brand teams. We work to bring about a persistent focus to change banking for good by creating elegant, simple products, features, and services that can make a positive impact on the lives of both our current customers and potential future customers.

We’re looking for an Experience Design Researcher to help design, lead, and conduct qualitative and quantitative user research for key initiatives at every stage of the product life-cycle that will help lead CreditWise into the future.

You’ll need to be pretty dang good at doing these types of things:

  • Guide teams to translate business problems into human-centered problems

  • Be creative in the methods employed to spark an empathic understanding of users’ needs

  • Align product experiences to the broader Capital One ecosystem

  • Design and conduct a range of formative and iterative research methods applicable to all product stages from conception to release

  • Develop comprehensive research strategies to drive qualitative and quantitative insights data into decisions across the product and experience lifecycle

  • Triangulate multiple data sources into integrated insights

  • Practice and help evolve the team’s research techniques and toolset to work effectively within a rapid product and experience development cadence

  • Collaborate closely with design, engineering, and business partners during all steps of research

  • Have a track record of leading teams of various stakeholders - including designers, researchers, strategists, product managers, and tech partners

  • Understand the difference between Design Research & Market Research and have experience collaborating on initiatives between these teams

  • Translate research findings into actionable recommendations and deliver them in compelling ways

  • Communicate and evangelize research results to design, business, and technology teams and upper management

  • Influence leadership with a persuasive insight-driven stance on difficult user experience and business issues

  • As a research manager, demonstrate leadership and passion in all the above points

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience with user experience design

  • At least 5 years of professional experience with user testing and evaluative research

  • At least 3 years of experience managing other designers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Behavioral Science, Design or related Field

  • 8+ years of professional experience with user experience design, user testing, and evaluative research

  • 8+ years of experience designing for omni-channel services

  • 4+ years of usability testing and user experience research within a lab environment

  • 4+ years of experience managing other designers
