Risk Manager, Payments

The Product Experience Risk Team focuses on money movement products, partnerships, product features, builds and innovation that allows our customers to bank with confidence.   Product Experience risk managers work through unstructured problems and manage change while demonstrating superior problem-solving skills, strong business judgment, and leadership presence.  For this role, experience with payments systems, requirements, and operations will be required.  If you have the passion to Protect our Customers and Protect our Bank, we need you!

 

Responsibilities

As a Risk Manager, you will:

  • Advise and consult with self-directed teams to help develop well-designed products, practices, and processes

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with product owners, process managers, compliance advisors, legal counsel, auditors, and other risk managers

  • Manage multiple tasks independently to meet deadlines

  • Coordinate work between multiple areas and engage in multiple work streams, simultaneously; leveraging/influencing business partners to drive results

  • Partner with Retail Bank groups to document policies, processes, standards, and procedures to facilitate/demonstrate compliance with laws and regulations

  • Oversee risk event remediation impacting customers stemming from process breakdowns or other problems, developing permanent corrective actions

  • Support partner well-managed activities, second line of defense assurance reviews, internal audits, and regulatory exams

  • Maintain knowledge of the company’s current payments technology, processes and infrastructure, along with knowledge of new capabilities in the industry and understanding the potential impact to Capital One

Basic Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or military experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in Risk management or Process management or Product Management experience

  • At least 4 years of Payments Processing or Payment Channels experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Payments Certification (AAP, APRP, etc.)

  • Business Process Management certification, Lean Six Sigma, etc.

  • 3+ years of experience in Risk management or Process management or Product Management experience

  • 5+ years of Payments Processing or Payment Channels experience
