Capital One is looking for an engineering leader to lead a team focused on the commercialization of our pioneering technology products. This is an exciting opportunity to truly be part of a startup, but with the ability to build products at significant scale. You will be tasked with expanding and externalizing our product suite. As we have transformed into a Technology company, we have found ourselves with a portfolio of effective tools and platforms that meet customer needs, but don’t exist in the marketplace. Be a founding and integral member of a team driving the technology strategy and approach, product/platform development, and re-architecting and re-engineering for multiple enterprise customers and scale.
Working with leadership, customers, and within and across Agile teams to strategically design, develop, test, implement, and support product across full-stack development tools and technologies
Leading the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, scalability, and productization of your solutions
Setting quality standards, building mechanisms and processes for team efficiency, continuously inventing and simplifying
Direct management of software engineers
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
Leadership and team building. Well-honed coaching skills with the ability and passion for developing one’s direct reports while fostering a collaborative, energetic, results-oriented, and innovative culture
Ability to establish credibility with, as well as motivate and mentor, highly technical engineers
Superior technical proficiency; well versed in open source technologies, public cloud infrastructure and strong DevOps capabilities. Experience with machine learning and data science products / engineering is also highly valued.
Intellectual curiosity; bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
Ability to employ judgment and experience to make rapid, complex decisions
High level prioritization, clear and compelling communication (written and verbal) and the ability to drive a high level of focus and excellence within a team
Ability to build enterprise grade products for multiple customers at scale
At least 7 years of software development experience
At least 3 years of leading and developing engineering teams building production software.
At least 3 years of experience working with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
5+ years delivering customer-facing solutions
5+ years experience taking a project from scoping requirements through launch of the project.
